Weld County is the second fastest-growing area in the nation from April 1, 2000 through July 1, 2006. Greeley, Colorado is one of the towns associated with Weld County. Weld County added 55,996 residents, growing by 31 percent to an estimated 236,857 people. A study done by Upstate Colorado Economic Development determined these figures. Weld County has many of its southern communities to thank for the growth. From 2000 to 2005 Firestone grew 105%, Erie 89%, Frederick 93%, Lochbuie 63%, Milliken 46%, and Severance 67%. Greeley only grew 12% in 5 years unlike Johnstown grew 60%
