Northern Colorado had another groundbreaking ceremony.  Vestas Wind Systems is building a 200,000 square foot wind-turbine-blade factory east of Windsor, Colorado. It is Vestas' first wind-turbine-blade factory in the United States.  They are the world's largest producer of wind turbines.

The Loveland, Fort Collins, Windsor, and Greeley area will have 464 new jobs added in early 2008 when the facility will operate 24 hours a day producing the 132 foot long blades which weigh 8.2 tons each.  Plans are to produce 1,200 blades a year.

Vestas was founded in 1898 by H.S. Hansen in Lem, Denmark.  By the end of 2006 Vestas had installed over 32,000 wind turbines in more than 60 countries and has over 12,000 employees worldwide.
