Johnstown, Colorado votes to begin annexation process, an article from The Loveland Reporter-Herald, reports that the Johnstown, Colorado Town Council voted to begin annexation proceedings for land at the northwest corner of Colorado 402 and Interstate 25. The land is called Mountain View Farms and sits across from 97 acres the city of Loveland, Colorado is in the process of purchasing for $6.5 million. Annexation would require the revision of the cities comprehensive plan, which now extends only as far as County Road 7 to the west and would not include the land to the west of Mountain View Farms, according to Town Planner John Franklin. Many of the landowners along Colorado 402 approached Loveland, Colorado for annexation six years ago, but the negotiations fell apart and the land remains largely unincorporated. A public hearing on the annexation will be held at the Johnstown Town Council meeting January 7.
