Fort Collins, Colorado neighborhood to feature energy-efficient homes

South Fort Collins, Colorado neighborhood to feature energy-efficient homes, an article from The Coloradoan, reports that on the outskirts of south Fort Collins, Colorado, an entire high-end housing development will offer energy-efficient homes based on a green-building scale native to Colorado home builders.  Vista Largo Reserve will be built by L.R. Barker Building Inc.  Approximate cost of the homes is $200 per square foot, or between $700,000 and $1 million for construction plus the lot price and the company's mark-up.  Lee Barker, president of L.R. Barker Building Inc. said, "Anyone can have a green building, but if you have a third party come and test and certify that house, that's the really critical part."  In February, Barker will begin construction on a new spec home and plans to build 10 houses total in the development.
