Berthoud, Colorado- Turns a new page with Library

The will be moving forward with plans to improve the services and update materials of the .  During the Nov 7th election, Berthoud voters approved a property tax increase that gave the library an additional $83,600 a year for the next 10 years.

Longtime library champion Bruce Fickel made good on an election promise by already donating half of a $100,000 gift.  Fickel and his late wife, Helen has already donated $400,000 for the construction of the library.

The will likely increase the hours of weekly operation form 46 to 54 with the increase funding.  On the later evenings, the library could host more adult programs such as lecture series and computer classes.  There has even been talk about off hosting more readings by authors.

The town of Berthoud, Colorado would like to see the library be a very active center for cultural activities in the town.  The town is currently looking to hire a director in early 2007.
