Bobcat Ridge Natural Area opens long-awaited trails
By Ann Depperschmidt The Reporter-Herald

Crews had to work by hand for about two months building the narrow, steep and mountain-bike friendly Ginny Trail.  Then crews spent another six weeks clearing the way for the wider, horseback-friendly D.R. Trail.

But the wait is over — the remaining planned trails at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area are open.

“They were literally chomping at the bit to get up here,” said Jim Miller, crew chief with the Fort Collins Natural Areas Program. “They’d stop and ask us, ‘when are the trails going to be done?’”

The city of Fort Collins Natural Areas Program last month completed the 3.2-mile D.R. Trail, open to hikers and horseback riders, and the 5.4-mile Ginny Trail, open to hikers and mountain bikers.

Now all the planned trails at Bobcat Ridge are open to the public, including the 4-mile Valley Loop, the 1.5-mile Powerline Road and the 1.3-mile Eden Valley Spur Trail.
