Green is new color of status for Developers
By BuyandSellColorado.com
An article from The Coloradoan, reports that during a panel discussion for Colorado State University's Everitt Real Estate Center, four area developers discussed the economic feasibility of green building. While all the rage is talk about green building, the panelists said the economics of funding a green project is a major obstacle. David Neenan of the Neenan Company said developers and builders are challenged to get a good cost benefit and paybacks are challenging. Director of CSU's Everitt Real Estate Center, Steven Laposa, discussed economic trends for 2008 based on the Emerging Trends in Real Estate report by Urban Land Institute and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He touched on a few "best bet" investment opportunities, including infill development, building transit-oriented developments, thinking green and focusing on mixed-use projects.
